About Mme.Girouard

My name is Mme. Girouard. I have a passion for teaching French and making students fall in love with the language and the culture.

I am currently a teacher at Captain R Wilson.

I have previously worked as a grade 1, 2, 4 and 5 French Core teacher as well as a grade 3/4 drama, dance and arts teacher at Captain R. Wilson and as a grade 1 French immersion teacher at Ecole Forest Trail.
I have successfully completed my practicums in grade 1 at George Syme community school, a school a part of the Model Schools for Inner City program in the TDSB as well as a grade 1-8 French Core assignment at St Robert Catholic school in the TCDSB.

While doing this I volunteered for a youth women outreach program in an inner city neighborhood in Toronto.
I have also volunteered for a number of health organizations such as OTMH and the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada as well as gone on a couple of humanitarian trips to Cuba and Dominican Republic. I even taught the University group Spanish before going on the Dominican Republic mission.

All my schooling was done in French and I’ve graduated from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education from the University of Toronto as well as graduated with Honours in Multimedia and French from McMaster University. While at McMaster Univeristy I successfully completed an exchange at Université jean moulin lyon 3, in Lyon, France.

I do my best to teach using current material and incorporating the arts, various music, games, video clips and activities to make French class fun, engaging, relevant and educational!

I believe if students like the class they will be more interested to learn! (Please check out the educational music section!! It is a big help.)
